St. Cecilia Catholic Church
R.A. Colby designed and installed a new three-manual organ for St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Houston, Texas. The instrument combines pipework from several sources, including the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, St. Mary’s Seminary, and the former Fourth Church of Christ, Scientist. Colby supplemented these materials with new pipe ranks and digital voices by Walker Technical Company. The organ features 29 pipe ranks, 15 digital ranks, and a total of 38 stops. It includes approximately 1,753 speaking pipes. A custom aluminum façade, suspended from a structural beam above the choir, rises over twenty feet and is topped with a hand-carved bronze lyre. The organ was completed and dedicated on November 21, 2024, the day before the Feast of Saint Cecilia, and was later featured in The Diapason magazine in May 2025.
