Epiphany Cathedral

This impressive installation was the result of several years of careful negotiation. The existing instrument had been placed in a loft behind the chancel, where it struggled to project clearly into the nave. The choir sat well below and to the side of the organ’s sound axis, leaving them with little meaningful support. Compounding the issue, the console was a used unit adapted to the organ, and it was failing at an alarming rate. Weekly mechanical issues became the norm, and progress toward repair or replacement remained slow. Eventually, an advocate within the diocese stepped in and helped move the project forward.

The approved plan called for a major expansion, including three beautifully carved cases featuring a full 16′ Principal in the façade. A new “Nave Organ” division was mounted above the choir to provide strong, direct support. While the tonal results are striking, the greatest benefit is the improved ability to lead and support both the choir and congregational singing. The instrument has brought renewed vitality and participation to worship.
