Annapolis, MD
U.S. Naval Academy Chapel
This monumental instrument features the largest drawknob console in the world, commanding a vast and versatile musical resource.
The project unfolded over six years in five distinct phases. It began with the installation of a new five-manual console—gifted by the Class of 1951—followed by a full organ replacement, including new windchests, pipework, layout, and revoicing of retained ranks. The original Möller console shell was restored and now serves as a dedicated gallery console.
This organ was a collaborative effort between R.A. Colby and Walker Technical. Colby completed the console, organ design, pipework, installation, and tonal finishing; Walker provided the digital voices and digital tonal finishing.
The instrument continues to evolve through ongoing refinements, maintaining its role at the heart of ceremonial, liturgical, and concert life at the Academy.
