Forrest Burdette United Methodist

Hurricane, WV
VI Manual Custom Drawknob Console
452 Stop Controls
56 Coupler Controls
375 Ranks

The word "Custom" is an understatment for this extraordinary project. Installed in an 800 seat sanctuary, this organ was a project designed and installed by Allen Harrah at his home church of Forest Burdette United Methodist in Hurricane, West Virginia. Dedicated to the music program, Allen had a vision of an exceptional instrument that would draw artists from around the world to present quality programs to the greater Charleston, West Virginia area.

Garnering support from the church, Allen dedicated his time and materials to the installation of this most unique instrument. Springing from his roots as a former President of the Rodgers Organ Company, the console is a drawknob style with all lighted knobs. The 45 Ranks of pipes are mainly Ruffatti with windchests built by Allen Harrah. The complete installation was accomplished by Allen Harrah with the aid of three church volunteers.

His efforts and talents have been well rewarded with an ongoing "Pipe Sounds" program that sponsors a minimum of four concert programs per year. The organ has been host to many name organists presenting extremely varied programs. These include annual Patriotic programs as well as many silent movies accompanied by this exceptionally versatile instrument.
